- They are tied to your phone number or account. In a WhatsApp group, other members can usually see your number. Telegram shows a username and, depending on your settings, can expose more.
- Invitation links travel. A link posted in one place ends up in many others, and so do the people who join.
- Anyone can screenshot. A group of 200 people has 200 possible leaks.
- Moderation depends on the admin. Some groups have none, and spam bots are common in open ones.
How a public chat room is different
